ITA Brevi note sull'album.
Nineteen Sixty-eight è il terzo album di Claudio Maffei pubblicato nel 2020. La produzione segue in qualche modo quella del progetto Muff Brotherhood del quale si avvale con la partecipazione di alcuni dei musicisti di più recente collaborazione come Alessandro Chessa e Fabiola Torresi. L’album racchiude 11 brani scritti nei precedenti 8 anni, che rappresentano diversi momenti basilari del lungo percorso musicale di Claudio Maffei, con il contributo di William Pizzuti nella scrittura del testo di tre brani, e di John Schiessler e Gregory Demos rispettivamente per la musica e il testo del brano I TIp My Hat. Permangono alcune chiare contaminazioni del mondo folk della westcoast di Crosbyana memoria, come è stato per il precedente lavoro del Muff Brotherhood – Somewhere Along The Shore (ristampa dell'album Today And Tonight), ma virando spesso e con decisione in quel mood sonoro tipicamente anglosassone che ha caratterizzato il sound del classic rock come si potrà intuire già dal primo brano. Il titolo dell’album non è il mero riferimento all’anno di nascita di CM ma vuole rendere omaggio all’inizio di un periodo di grande libertà creativa nella musica e nelle arti tutte, periodo al quale CM è sempre rimasto profondamente connesso. Questa sorta di omaggio al 1968 si completa con i disegni di copertina di Ira Miliucci.

Nineteen Sixty-eight is Claudio Maffei's third album released in 2020. The production somehow follows the path of Muff Brotherhood with the participation of some of the most recent musicians of that project: Alessandro Chessa and Fabiola Torresi. The album includes 11 songs written in the previous 8 years, which represent several basic moments in Claudio Maffei's long musical career, with the contribution of William Pizzuti as co-writer of the lyrics of three songs, and of John Schiessler and Greg Demos respectively as co-writer of the music and as writer of the lyrics of the song I TIp My Hat. There are still some clear contaminations of the folk world of the westcoast of CSNY memory, just like the previous work of the Muff Brotherhood - Somewhere Along The Shore (reissue of the album Today And Tonight), but often winking to that typically Anglo-Saxon sound mood which characterized the sound of classic rock as you can already guess from the first song. The title of the album is not a mere reference to the year of CM's birth but wants to pay homage to the beginning of a period of great creative freedom in music, arts, thoughts, a period to which CM has always remained deeply connected. This sort of homage to 1968 is completed with the cover drawings by Ira Miliucci.
